Ukulele Intro – Banjolele

I feel like I need to start this post by telling you, that I’ve got the best husband in the world. Without him, this fun instrument would not be in my life.

The fun instrument I’m talking about is the Ortega OUBJ100-SBK Banjolele from their Raven Series. Hubby gifted it to me for our fifth wedding anniversary (how great is that <3) and I love that thing dearly.

It’s size is somewhere between a concert and tenor ukulele, with 18 frets. It’s tuned GCEA just like a regular ukulele, but with the sound of banjo. That said, it’s very, very, (very, very) loud – not just compared to a regular uke. And it’s also kinda heavy, when you’re used to wooden ukuleles. However, the look in black with chrome is just so pretty and playing it is so much fun.

Here’s some pictures of that beauty:

I don’t play it as much as I’d like to because I feel I’m lacking in technique to make her sound the way it’s supposed to. So learning things like clawhammer is definitely on my list.
