Making Art

As you know, these feelings of not being good enough seem to haunt me regularly. Planet Prudence did a wonderful comic about it…

Making art always looks easy to outsiders. People rarely see how much work actually goes into writing a new song, arraning a song, drawing a comic or writing a blog post. User usually only see the final product. This is fine but also leads to people putting down artist for being lazy, or not having much to do anyway and seeing art as a hobby instead of a job.

But even then a lot of work goes into creating something new. As for me, it’s true, that making music, taking pictures for my Instagram and writing my blog is only a hobby. I don’t make any money with it. But I still invest a lot of time and heart into what I do. So getting the feeling that it’s not good enough and people might not like it can be cruel.

This is one of the reasons, why I started this blog. I wanted to give people a little insight on what’s going on behind the scenes. How much work goes into a nice picture, or a video or a new song. This means, often posting something raw or not perfect, but it keeps it real.

I’m really happy that Prudence was able to capture all of that in one of her comics. If you love Prudence work as much as I do, you can support her on Patreon.
