Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a nice Christmas vacation. Some of you might have expected to see a new video on my Instagram today. Instead you just saw a (pretty) picture of me and my ukulele.
Now why is that?
I started my ukulele Instagram a year ago, to make sure that I would practice regularly and improve my ukulele skills. I soon started posting with a very tight schedule of posting everyday and alternating video and pictures. This meant, that I had to learn and record 3-4 videos a week. That’s a lot.
And it takes a lot of time to do this. In the last year, I loved doing it and it helped me a lot to improve my ukulele skills. However, in the last couple of weeks I felt a bit fatigued by it. Learning so many new songs usually means, that there’s not much time for each song. And not much time to try new things, learn new things and improve new things. This turned into me playing fairly “easy” songs, with the same strumming pattern all over.
I feel like this is not enough anymore. I want to focus more on new techniques, get to know my fretboard better, maybe even learn to read music – and most of all, I want to focus more on my own songs. Doing all of this takes time though. So I decided to post less videos from now on. It wasn’t easy for me to make this decision, but I feel it’s the best way to go forward.
What it means for you is, that there will be less videos on my Instagram (probably only 1-2 a week), sometimes it might be songs you’ve already heard before, or just snippets of me practicing. But it also means, that you’ll get a lot more pretty ukulele pictures, as I will continue to post everyday as usual.
Let me know how you feel about those changes.
xoxo Nikky
