Meeting online friends

I think I’ve written about it before, that I can be a little awkward when it comes to social interaction. I’m not really good at small talk (or very much interested in it) but I’m also not a person that opens up right away with everyone. So somehow there’s always this huge gap between small talk and telling private things where I have just no idea what to talk about with people that I don’t know very well yet.

This becomes especially apparent when I meet people from my online world in real life for the first time. With me being at festivals a lot lately there’s always a couple of people coming up to me “Hey, are you Nikky. I’m following you on Instagram”. Don’t get me wrong, I love it when that happens. Makes me feel like a total star and I love putting real life faces to everyones accounts. But I just never know what to say or talk about.

I did however notice, that I’m not the only one who feels that way. This seems to be a common theme among those who mainly interact with people online. I have no idea how we could solve this problem – maybe we need to dive right into talking about our online presence, or ukuleles. What do you lovelies think could be a conversation starter?

Anyway, I told my lovely friend Prudence about it and she could totally relate and came up with this comic:
